NaPoWriMo – Day of the Pandas

Standard

It was an ordinary day of an ordinary kind,
the day that the pandas arrived.
No one was fearful, we paid them no mind,
the day that the pandas arrived.
There wasn’t a panic, there wasn’t a fuss
there was no way of knowing what this meant for us
or we’d have been out on our porches
with pitchforks and torches
the day that the pandas arrived.

The people were happy and nobody knew,
the day that the pandas were plotting.
They were hatching their plans from their cage in the zoo,
the day that the pandas were plotting.
The kept everyone happy, they were quite the crowd-pleasers,
cute bamboo munchers, adorable sneezers
but when they looked to be dreaming
they were in fact scheming
all through the night those foul pandas were plotting.

With brilliant timing and great subtly,
on the next day the pandas took over.
They snuck out from their cage with a bamboo-made key
and on that day the pandas took over.
With their black-and-white logic, their great ursine patience
and their nigh undetectable panda-bear agents.
You thought that was a man with two black eyes?
Wrong! It was a panda in disguise.
And with that the pandas took over.
